OUR MANIFESTO
Waste is a key issue for our cities. Nature deals with it with a beautifully designed cycle: any discard becomes an input for other processes. Waste simply does not exist. However, our industrial, fast, consumerist society shifted from a naturally circular system to a resource-exhausting model.
Lebanon, a country with a rampant haphazard urbanization, only recovers 20% of the resources it daily uses. Most end up becoming waste: a management problem, a nuisance, a health threat. A waste issue causing a waste of money, jobs, public resources and human efforts - during an unprecedented socio-economic crisis.
Our vision is a zero-waste society that channels resources to empower communities.
We ReFuse to keep fostering non-circular systems. We ReFuse to keep being part of a society designed to waste. We ReFuse to think it’s waste. We ReFuse to call it waste. We ReFuse to throw away valuable resources and we dare you to do the same, together.
As ReFuse, we ask families, students, business owners, small groups and large organizations, private and public actors to join our efforts, and become activists for a zero-waste society. We commit to spread awareness, refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, recycle, and cooperate.
